I hated this tree
It belongs to our neighbor and seemingly does nothing but look ugly and shed leaves which clog up the drainage on our car port roof (which in turn caused huge water damage last winter in 5 rooms of the house!)
And then along came Yona, who showed that there are always two ways of looking at the world.
Every morning when he wakes up, he waits for us to open up his window so he can say good morning to the tree, the birds, the morning, the world. It makes him insanely happy.
And so, of course, I've learned to love the ugly annoying tree and the beautiful green parrots that hang out there. And I feel very very humbled that a 1 year old can teach me such an important lesson in perspective. And grateful. Of course ;)
